Deep history
The Age of Angels
Ancient traditions describe Angels as powers that shaped the World from within the Labyrinth before the present nations. Their remnants and rivalries are used to explain the Veil, the gods, and creatures that cross into the material world.
The departure of the elves
Thousands of years ago, the great elven civilization withdrew or disappeared from the surface world. Its ruins, surviving traditions, and unanswered history remain visible across Orynthia and Vesper.
The burning of Demasae
About seven hundred years ago, Demasae burned during the period associated with Zelios’s ascendance. The event marked the transition from older elven and angelic powers toward the age of fractured kingdoms.
The Kharak arcane revolution
Several centuries ago, Kharak changed from a militaristic power that rejected forbidden magic into a magocracy organized around research and merit. The change separated Tazrid from Kharak’s former sphere and created the rivalry that now threatens war with Arrkoth.
The rise of Abaddon
About four hundred years ago, Abaddon’s influence became a major force across Orynthia and Vesper. His churches established ideas of protection, justice, and order that later became part of regional and imperial politics.
The Arrkoth conquest
The Arrkoth dynasty expanded across Orynthia through conquest, diplomacy, and imperial administration. The party knows the Empire as the current dominant power, although the relationship between its Vesperian origins and later Orynthian expansion remains disputed.
Shared campaign events
Bloodshed at the Absolution Square
Protests and violence around the Absolution Square were contained behind a powerful barrier while an unidentified disease spread among the trapped population. The incident brought the Imperial Church, non-human communities, and the party into direct conflict.
The attack on Ismael Verdugo
An assassination attempt against Ismael Verdugo brought the party into the internal politics of the Verdugo Syndicate. The investigation exposed overlapping imperial, revolutionary, Kharaki, and occult interests in the Syndicate’s artifacts and research.
The fall of the meteorite
A strange object fell near the borders of Valdengard and Redguard and became the subject of investigation by astronomers, the Imperial Church, the Duke, and rival factions. Evidence at Loth Rakk connected it to dimensional breaches and anomalous life.
The Redguard investigation
The party traveled to Redguard to investigate conspirators, disappearances, aberrant attacks, the Duke’s illness-stricken court, and the fallen object. The investigation led through Highwater, the Duke’s hunt, Ansben, and the ruins of Loth Rakk.
The Ansben catastrophe
During the Redguard royal hunt, the party found Ansben’s population transformed by an occult ritual. The village records identified the Blind Messengers and turned the cult from a distant rumor into an immediate threat.
The Loth Rakk expedition
The party entered the ancient elven complex at Loth Rakk while it was being used for Imperial research. They investigated the meteorite, Subject 0, experimental organisms, dimensional equipment, and the connection between the research and Uriel Cabeth.
Uriel Cabeth’s assault on Redguard
Uriel attacked the forces beneath Redguard and defeated the Duke’s defenses. The survivors learned that the Bloom and the Blind Messengers represented a threat larger than the local conspiracy.
The Verdugo succession crisis
After Verdugo’s leadership was lost, Syndicate factions began competing for control of its companies, agents, and artifact vaults. The party became involved in the succession process and the rival interests surrounding Zaine.
Nivara’s abduction in Al’Zafira
Nivara traveled to Al’Zafira while researching the Bloom, the Plague King, and the Labyrinth. The party investigated her apparent murder and discovered that Kharaki agents had abducted her to exploit her research.
The Korso investigations
Garrim and Zverina investigated poisonings, disappearances, JPL shipments, and the Porcelain Lady in Korso. Their findings connected the city to R’auleks, Maer interests, and machinery being assembled beneath the ordinary world.
